CC1111EMK868-915: 433mhz Packet Sniffer

Part Number: CC1111EMK868-915

Can we use CC1111EMK868-915  as a 433Mhz packet capture device for the SmartRF Packet Sniffer ?

I knew that CC1111EMK868-915  with chip antenna for 868 and 915 MHz operation, Can it modify to capture 433Mhz packets ?

  • The 868-915 MHz dongle as-is can be used to capture 433 MHz packets at close range. If you need longer range you have to modify the dongle for 433 MHz operation: 1) change the balun and filter components between the CC1111 and the antenna according to the CC1110-433 MHz reference design (www.ti.com/.../cc1110em433_refdes), 2) change the antenna to a 433 MHz solution, and 3) change the antenna impedance matching component values. The most critical part for reception will be 2) and 3). What you could do is to un-solder the chip antenna and solder a semi-rigid coax cable at the antenna feedpoint and connect to a 433 MHz whip antenna. Remove the antenna matching components (un-solder L235 and replace L236 with a 0 ohm resistor). This will give you a working solution; not necessarily one which is nice to look at.
