CC1352P: Can we able to copy sensors joined information in collector to external flash before erasing flash of collector using uniflash?

Hi,

I am using CC1352P as collector in FH mode. Can we able to copy sensors joined information in collector to external flash before erasing flash of collector using uniflash. Again after collector code is flashed can i retrive sensors joined information from external flash data.

Because my application requires Update of Collector code using FOTA, And we don't need to disassociate and pair again to the same collector.

Note: My collector application is paired with 100 sensors approximately.

Where can i get the internally stored sensor details like short id and pairing info etc.

Hi Haricharan,

What you are asking for is how to not overwrite NVS (Non-Volatile Storage) sectors when flashing a new image. It is in these NVS sectors that information about sensor information and whatnot is stored.

This is possible to do in Uniflash, where you can specifically configure a flash procedure to skip certain sectors. However, you need to know which sectors does the NVS region use. By default for CC1352P, two NVS pages are used, which corresponds to sector 41 and 42.

Now in Uniflash, under Settings & Utilities, scroll down to the Flash Page section, select "Skip specified sectors during program load", and write "41-42".

And that should be it.

Thanks for your quick response, sector 41 and 42 is the thing i want. But We are doing FOTA with UART Bootloader so how can i generate a hex file which will skip sectors 41 and 42 in CCS IDE.

You said you were using Uniflash in your initial post. Are you using Uniflash or are you using the serial bootloader?

I want one more answer regarding upgrade using serial boot loader, i.e., when my host invokes cc1352p bootloader and while the process is in middle if this fails like power loss occurs then after restart my host could not able to trigger back cc1352p bootloader. so what can i do to avoid this situation

As you can see from fig 1 in www.ti.com/.../swra466a.pdf some conditions has to be met to enter the bootloader. If the flashing process is aborted halfway you have something in the flash. Based on the figure you then have to use the bootloader backdoor to enter the bootloader again. Or you can do a mass erase.

Note that if a write is aborted you have to check the CCFG area. if this has been erased (set to 0xFF only) before loading the image you will not be able to enter the chip again since then the bit that allow mass erase has been changed.

Thank you TER for your response i will check the document you suggest and follow the procedure.

I had a query, sector 41 and 42 in collector which store the sensors joined, can we read that sectors and write in external flash and after erase and flash using boot loader and then retrive back from external flash. Is this process possible or not? can you suggest any other process for this.

Yes, that is technically possible, but you have to implement this yourself.

If you use Flash Programmer 2 to upload a hex file you can exclude given pages. Have you looked into this?
