CCS/LAUNCHXL-CC1312R1: Poor Eyediagram zero cross error(RMS)

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-CC1312R1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1312R

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi TI team,

Measured the CC1312R EVB with SmartRF by IQXel, the zero cross error(RMS) is 44.11% which over the spec. 12.5%.

And the eye diagram seems poor, is there any setting goes wrong?

Please refer the attach setting and IQxel waveform captures.

Thanks,

Jerry

  • It looks like you are measuring on packet transmission and based on the eye diagram it could look like you also include the start of the packet and hence getting some transient effect. To start with, are you able to measure using a continuous TX to check if your results are based on the measurement method?

  • Hi,

When I use continuous Tx with modulated carrier the equipment(IQxel) is unable to demodulate the signal.

  • I don't have a LitePoint available at the moment so I'm not able to check how you have to set up this to get correct results. We have measured the zero cross error to be around 1.9 % during characterization.

I would assume that the blue line in your eye diagram plot is due to the start of the packet. If you manage to set up the measurement to avoid this line I would assume that your results will be a lot better.

  • Do you measure with continuous modulated carrier or packet?

I have no idea why the equipment gets the start of packet when I using infinite packet transmitting.
