CC1125: Is FREQOFF affected by FREQOFF_CFG ?

Part Number: CC1125

The CC1125 has a FREQOFF register (or, rather, pair of registers)  which specifies an offset to the frequency given by the FREQ registers.

Am I correct in thinking that this offset is always applied - there is no way to disable it ?

ie, if you want no offset, you must just set the FREQOFF  value to zero.

I ask because there is also a register called (unhelpfully?) FREQOFF_CFG

Clearly, the name suggests that it would affect the operation of FREQOFF  - but the description seems entirely unrelated ?

Please clarify!

  • FREQOFF is used if you want to add a offset frequency. This is covered in 9.12 in https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/swru295e/swru295e.pdf. As the equations show the content FREQOFF registers is always used to calculate the final frequency.

FREQOFF_CFG: As you can see from the register description, this controls how Frequency Offset Correction should be done and this is NOT related to the FREQOFF register. Search for FREQOFF_CFG in the UserGuide to see how this register can be used.

What is the background for your question?

  • Thanks - that was my understanding of reading the User Guide.

I was just worried by the unhelpful & misleading choice of name for the FREQOFF_CFG register - which clearly suggests that it might affect the use of the FREQOFF register!
