Compiler/CC1350: Sniffing packets from cc1350 launchpad and analyze them

Hi guys !

Im trying to sniff my stream packets that sent by cc1350 hardware lanuchpad and the stream of packet is sampled by dongle called RTL SDR , so I can see that the stream of packet in matlab , what Im actually trying to do is to analyze those packet, it means to detect if my stream packets that Im capturing is having valid packets or not, I trying to download

SmartRF Packet Sniffer 2

but it doesn't work, and the option device configuration on this software didn't appear and can't choose any configuration , I think that because sniffer 2 isn't supporting cc1350 launchpad ..

so anyone can suggest or help me what should I do in order to sniff my stream of packets that has been sent from cc1350 Hardware launchpad? thanks alot

when I try to download sniffer packet 2 , it shows me this error and I dont know why , I already downloaded my wireshark before installing packet sniffer 2 and Im downloading packet sniffer 2 on the same directory of wireshark (in program files) .. any help?

Hi Mohammed,

I recommend you open up the help section in the tool, it covers most of your questions.

1) You need to flash the correct FW image to the launchpad for the packet sniffer software to detect it.

2) The help section also guides you on how to manually install the plugins in Wireshark if this was not done for you.

My USB(DONGLE) that Im using is RTL-SDR so it would be suitable for packet sniffer 2 application, no? I must have dongle that's matched to one of the USBS that are compatible with this application right?

I don't fully understand what you are getting at here but your RTL-SDR will not work with Packet Sniffer 2. Basically, it only supports the CC13XX and CC26XX launchpads. If you want to sniff packets going OUT of a CC1350, you would need to use a second launchpad as the sniffer.
