CC1312R: custom board with the amplifier CC1190

Part Number: CC1312R
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1310, , CC1190

Hi,

We designed a custom PCB with the CC1310 following this reference design https://www.ti.com/tool/LAUNCHXL-CC13-90 and it worked great.

But because of the hardware constraints of the CC1310 we are moving our design with the CC1312R and I read that it is pin-compatible with the CC1310 but just replace the main 24mhz crystal with the 48mhz one (because of the M4F arm Cortez I assume).

Can I just change the CC1310 with the CC1312R and just change the crystal and should work just fine? What else do you recommend me to change?? because I head that the PA tables of the CC1312R are different :S.

Can I use the same power settings of the smart rf used on the CC1310 without worrying on damaging the CC1190?

Do you guys have a CC1312R-CC1190 tested design?

Thank you and good day.

  • We have not tested CC1312R-CC1190.

For the hardware migration of the CC1312R part of the design, see .

Yes, the PA tables are different. But the PA on CC1312R is similar to the PA on CC1310. For preliminar tests I would use the same PA table as is used for CC1310 but for a final design it could be that you should find your own PA table.

Max input level on CC1190 is 10 dBm. With the SAW filter that typically has 2-3 dB attenuation you will be below this for most settings. To be safe, don't set CC1312R to output more than about 12 dBm.

  • Ok, I will continue to do the custom PCB as referred in the  https://www.ti.com/tool/LAUNCHXL-CC13-90  for the RF part.

I will tell the results when it arrives here. Thanks for the reply.
