CC1352R: Thread at 915Mhz

Part Number: CC1352R
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1352P

Hello,

Can the CC1352R (or any TI device) run Thread at 915Mhz?

Thanks,
Nick

  • Current Thread protocol only support 2.4 GHz and CC1352R (no other TI device) can run Thread at 915Mhz as I know.

  • Hi,

The CC1352R (and CC1352P) device is certainly capable of supporting both frequency bands concurrently (e.g. see our DMM examples).

As of now, the released Thread 1.1.1 spec only specifies using the 802.15.4 MAC/PHY on 2.4 GHz.

Future revisions may include support of sub-1 GHz functionality in some capacity. Our development team works closely with the Thread Group to make sure that we are in sync. I can see sub-1 GHz being a feature which enhances certain use cases for Thread (e.g. wall penetration), so we will definitely be on the look out.

    Regards,
    Toby
