CC1352P: CC1352P: Wireless M-Bus S-mode support

Part Number: CC1352P
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: WMBUS, CC1310

Hi!

I have downloaded the latest SimpleLink SDK for CC1312R: v4.30.00.54 from the 5th of October 2020 and the latest Smart RF studio 2.19.0.

Two questions concerning WMBUS support:

1) Smart RF Studio only contains settings for WMBUS 868MHz C- and T-Mode, but not for S-Mode. Will it be released later in Q4/2020?

2) The CC13x2/CC26x2 SDK does not contain any RF patches for WMBUS modes as they exist for the CC1310 SDK. Are there simply no RF patches required on CC1312R for WMBUS modes?

Background:
I am interested in WMBUS S-Mode, because it shares the same physical layer properties as KNX-RF ready (KNX-RF 1.R).
As there is now support for CC1310 in this KNX-stack, I wonder if support for the CC13x2 could be added as well.

  • Hello Christian,

    1) S-mode is not planned for Q4 in Studio. I will check the plan and get back to you.

    2) Q4 release has post fix vX.40. v4.30.00.54 is the Q3 release. I will check the expected release date for the Q4 release.

  • Hello Christian,

    1) The due date for Q4 release is not set, but it might be very late 2020.

    2)

Yes, we will support the S-mody PHY(Physical Layer) on CC13x2 – this could be used in a third party stack – for example KNX.

In terms of the TI wireless MBUS stack offering, we have decided – initially, to only support T and C mode (868 MHz). We might eventually also go for S-mode MBUS stack offering, but we’re currently not seeing a strong push for this in the market.
