CC3230SF: Footprint compatible with CC3220SF

Part Number: CC3230SF
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC3220SF

Hi,

About the new release CC3230SF Wi-Fi SoC which is very similar to CC3220SF, I have some questions:

1. Are these two IC footprint compatible? Then we can assemble one model or the other on a PCB.

2. Is there any CC3230SF development board like a launchpad-CC3230SF?

3. Regarding the firmware development, is there any important difference between these two models IC? Or it will be only a change of the SDK (Service Package of the NWP)?

Thanks and regards,

  • Hi Yong Zha,

    1. Yes, the footprint is compatible, but there may be a difference for the BLE coexistence pins.
    2. No, there is not a CC3230 LaunchPad. If you wish to start testing the features of the CC3230, I suggest a CC3235 LaunchPad with the 5 GHz disabled.
    3. The SDK and host driver are the same between the CC3220 and CC3230. The servicepack is different, since the CC3230 includes many of our "gen 3" features. The other difference are the use of the BLE coexistence pins.

    Best regards,

    Sarah
