Uniflash V3 Seems to be unresponsive to CC3100BOOST

Hi,

I am looking to flash the CC3100 SDK service pack to my CC3100BOOST. My CC3100 is stacked to a MSP432P401R.

In Uniflash, it seems like I am connected to board properly on COM5, but when a select "Get Version" I get the following message in the console:

[12:14:21] Begin GetVersion operation.
[12:14:21] INFO: > Executing Operation: Connect
[12:14:23] INFO: setting break signal
[12:14:24] INFO: detecting FTDI for device reset
[12:14:24] INFO: > Executing Operation: Disconnect
[12:14:24] Operation GetVersion returned.

From this it is apparent I am not receiving any bootloader version, and I think I am not connected properly.

Any help on this is appreciated.

Hi Aidan,

To flash, the CC3100BOOST should be stacked on the CC31XXEMUBOOST. Do you have one of these boards?

Currently, I only have the CC3100BOOST and a MSP432P401R MCU.

I am actually working on developing a IoT course, and a TI rep for our university recommended these boards along with the Educational Booster Pack II.

Are there out of box example codes for the CC3100BOOST that you could point me to? I am trying to update the service pack of the CC3100BOOST as recommended in section 3.2 of the "CC3100 SimpleLink Wi-Fi and IoT Solution Getting Started Guide."

Hi Aidan,

While we support CC3100, I do not recommend it for a course. This device uses older software and does not use the latest versions of UniFlash or Code Composer Studio. The CC3100 SDK and servicepack are not regularly updated. The CC3100 SDK also refers to a very old version of the MSP432 SDK.

I recommend looking at the CC3120 BoosterPack with the SimpleLink Wi-Fi Plugin instead. The CC3120 BoosterPack has updated documentation and tutorials, including Out of Box Experience.

For either device, I highly recommend getting a CC31XXEMUBOOST as well. This is the BoosterPack used to flash the CC31xx device servicepack, user files, and configurations.

You can also use the XDS110 on-board the MSP432 LaunchPad to flash the device, but it requires additional jumper wires.
