CC3135: sl_FsProgram - SL_RET_CODE_DEV_NOT_STARTED

Hi Casper,

It is required that you flash a servicepack that is compatible with your host driver version (see the release notes). If you are using the latest SimpleLink SDK Wi-Fi Plugin v4.20, this must be sp_4.7.0.3_3.1.0.5_3.1.0.26 or later.

Additionally, you must call sl_Start() to start the network processor before calling any other sl_* APIs. If you are using a multi-threaded environment, you must also have created the sl_Task.

Hi Sarah,

I have tried calling sl_start() which returns "SL_RET_CODE_OK". sl_Task has also been created. 

But i still get the same is issue at sl_FsProgram.

Did you flash a servicepack? No, that is my issue. There is no service pack in the CC3135 currently. I am trying to program it with "sl_FsProgram" but it fails at " VERIFY_API_ALLOWED(SL_OPCODE_SILO_FS); " with "SL_RET_CODE_DEV_NOT_STARTED".

What return value do you get from sl_Start?
It returns "SL_RET_CODE_OK". So that part seems to be OK?

Is this a CC3135MOD or CC3135 IC? If it is an IC, is the external serial flash already formatted (like shipped on a BoosterPack)?

sl_Start returns ROLE_STA/ROLE_AP/etc, but if it's returning 0, that should be okay. Are you calling sl_Start without a callback?

Hi Sarah,

It is a CC3135 IC. I am not sure i understand what you mean with formatted? The external serial flash we use is a Winbond (W25Q16JVUXIQ), maybe that is incompatible with cc3135?

I am calling sl_start with a callback. If i try without callback then it get stuck at "_SlDrvWaitForInternalAsyncEvent"

Hi Casper,

By formatted, I mean the SimpleLink file system is created. This can either be done by flashing with UniFlash ImageCreator tool, or loading a gang image to the serial flash and the file system is created upon boot. See the CC313x Production Line Guide.

If you are starting with a custom board, this serial flash would not be formatted yet. You can check out the CC3x3x Serial Flash guide for details on serial flash compatibility.

Thanks for the explanation. In that case, our serial flash is not formatted yet. Would that mean i can't use sl_FsProgram? I thought it could be used as initial programming so we could avoid the UART connection.

Hi Casper,

If you are getting dev_not_started then either Sl_Start() is failing, or you are not calling this before calling sl_FsProgram(). Can you call other Sl_* commands and verify other functions work successfully?
