CC3200-LAUNCHXL: OTA example not working

Hi,

I am using CC3200 LAUNCHXL board. I am trying to do OTA example given in the SDK. I am using

SDK - 1.5.0

CCS - 10.4.0

Service pack - CC3x00ServicePack-1.0.1.15-2.14.0.0

Uniflash - uniflash_cc3xxx_setup_3.2.0.00123

I am following the example given in the CC3200_OTA_Update_Application_Note given in the docs folder of the SDK.

I did the following step for Application_Bootloader.bin which is in pg 11.

After that I followed the steps given in pg 23 for dropbox

After that I am following the steps from pg 24 and 25.

I added the application_bootloader.bin in /sys/mcuimg.bin and ota_update_nonos.bin in /sys/mcuimg2.bin.

After that if I format the SFLASH with 1MB and then program the "servicepack_1.0.1.15-2.14.0.0.bin" in service pack programming. Then I click on program and the files get programmed to the board. Then if I remove the SOP 2 jumper and reset the board then nothing is printing in the terminal. The port is getting detected and I am able to open the port in the terminal but I am not getting any prints.

Were you able to execute any other (non-ota) example (from the flash)?

Hi Kobi Leibovitch,

I tried blinky example and it was working. I flashed the code using Uniflash.

I also tried the file_download example and it was also working properly.

try to make a copy of of the "ota_update_nonos.bin" in /sys/mcuimg1.bin.

application_bootloader.bin should still be in /sys/mcuimg.bin

I gave the URL for "ota_update_nonos.bin" in /sys/mcuimg1.bin

and URL for "application_bootloader.bin" in /sys/mcuimg.bin But still nothing is printing in the tera term.

Interesting, this should have worked (i guess when you mentioned URL, you referred to path of the file on your PC).

Can you try loading the application bootloader from the debugger and check if something is blocking its execution?

Yes, by URL I meant the location/path of the file in my system.

I tried debugging the bootmgr code using CCS. It is getting stopped at

BTW. is this a new project using CC3200?

Why did you chose this and not the newer devices?

Please let me know what the issue is. And will it help if I change to some older SDK and try?

This is an old project which has some new additional requirements so I had to use CC3200 only.

No. Please use the most updated SDK and service pack.

Okay, Is there any other thing which I can try? Its a bit urgent and I am not able to get why an example which is given by TI is not working ! Should it be installed in C drive only ? I have installed it in F drive. If drop box is not working that is secondary but I am not even getting any prints at all.

It should work.

This was used by many customers before and you probably missed a step in the instructions.

I will try to run this (as i haven't done CC3200 OTA for a long time) by the end of the week so you'll have a reference.

If I debug the bootmgr application also I am getting some errors know. Because whatever I have mentioned in the question I have followed those steps. Let me know if there is any other step which I am missing from the document. If there is then I will try that and let you know.

Hi Kobi Leibovitch,

I mentioned an error earlier regarding the bootmgr application know, So I gave locate and located the file interrupt.c and now it is running without any errors. I now flashed this after rebuilding but still no prints are coming.

Can you try to use the LEDs (or other GPIO) to check that the bootmgr (from flash) is running (i'm quite sure prints will be too much since the bootmgr has only 16KB of code space).

If you were able to run other examples, you should be able to run the bootmgr as well.

I tried using an LED. If I add pinmux.h, it is showing error that the size of this is more than 16KB something like that. Can you share the files which is required for OTA so that i can flash those files and check if the OTA is still not working.
