CC3235MODASF: Update network profile using Uniflash

Part Number: CC3235MODASF
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH, CC3200

Hi,

We have used uniflash for update the network profile in CC3200 like below. I am not seeing the same screen in CC3235 (new version of uniflash). Could you please guide us how to achieve this.

Regards,

Sundar

  • Hi Sundar,

That is no longer an option on CC323x devices. Are you trying to set a profile for development or production?

    Best regards,

    Sarah

  • Hi Sarah,

    Thanks for your answer.

We are trying to do for production. At present  (CC3200 device) our customers use the uniflash to change their network profile with out reprogram the device.

Do you have any tool to upload only the network profile?

Enterprise security type we want to upload the certificate also.

Please help us to resole this issue.

    Regards,

    Sundar

  • Hi Sundar,

Do you mean you are loading the same enterprise network credentials to every device during production?

If the enterprise profile is configured by the end-user, the easiest way is to set the device in AP mode and use the built-in HTTP server and HTML pages to load the credentials and certificate files. For example, see the Profiles tab when running the Out of Box demo.

    Best regards,

    Sarah

  • Hi Sara,

Yes. We have 100 of IOT devices need to configure with the same network profile and the EAP certificates during production.

In CC3235, We need to connect each device to access point and connect to HTTP server and update the profiles. It is a time consuming process

CC3200 uniflash we have 2 options.

    1. We can update the network profile while program the device.

    2. We can update the network profile with out update the firmware

Our support team and few of our customers download this tool (uniflash) and update their network profile. it is more productive.

Please let me know any alternative way to do this in CC3235

    Regards,

    Sundar

  • Hi Sundar,

Providing your end-customer with UniFlash is not recommended. With the ImageCreator tool for CC3220 and CC323x devices, the serial flash is formatted before the image is programmed. This means that you would have to provide your customer with an ImageCreator project containing the other components of your image, including application binary and user files.

If you are creating an image for a certain group of devices (to program or for an OTA firmware update), include the certificates as user files, and then have a text user file that stores the network profile information and the names of the certificates. The application can read this file and create the profile (see page 51 of SWRU455M).

    Best regards,

    Sarah

  • Hi Sara,

    Thank you for your answer.

One last question, Do you have any sample program for uploading the and downloading the certificate from HTTP server.

    Regards,

    Sundar

  • Hi Sundar,

Not a certificate specifically, but the local OTA example shows how to load a user file (in this case, an image file) using the HTTP server and add it to the file system.

    Best regards,

    Sarah
