CC3235MODS: 5Ghz wifi certification

Part Number: CC3235MODS
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC3235S

Hi,

We are currently trying to get our product certified with the CC3235MODS module, we have followed the documents to guide the design, we have used the validated antenna for your certification.  All results are OK, we still have one point that exceeds the standards when we are in 5Ghz, here is the value table:

Frequency MHz EIRP dBm EIRP limit dBm Margin dB
5181 14.6 17 2.4
5350 7.4 17 9.6
5470 9.4 17 7.6
5825 13.7 17 3.3

10362

-26.8 -30 -3.2

11650

-31.6 -30 1.6

Do you know if we can reduce a parameter in software so that we can correct this point?

Do you know where the problem can come from?

Sincerly,

Maxime

  • Hi Maxime,

    • Which test is this? And for which standard?
    • Which antenna and FW version are you using?
    • Is the country code set properly?

Measurements of transceiver parameters in accordance with ETSI EN 301 893 V2.1.1 (2017-5)  :

Section : EN301 893 clause 4.2.3 RF output power, Transmit Power Control (TPC) an Power Density

    Definition :
The RF Output Power is the mean equivalent isotropically radiated power (e.i.r.p.)
    during a transmission burst.
The Transmit Power Control (TPC) is a mechanism to be used by the RLAN device
to ensure a mitigation factor of at least 3 dB on the aggregate power from a large
number of devices. This requires the RLAN device to have a TPC range from which
the lowest value is at least 6 dB below the values for mean e.i.r.p. given in table 2 for
    devices with TPC.
The Power Density is the mean equivalent isotropically radiated power (e.i.r.p.) den-
    sity during a transmission burst.

    Limits :

Mean e.i.r.p. limits for RF output power and Power Density at the highest power level
    (PH): see table 3.3-1
Mean e.i.r.p. limits for RF Output Power at the lowest power level of the TPC range:
    see table 3.3-2

    Conformance :

    Clause 5.4.4

    • Which antenna and FW version are you using?

    Antenna :

--> we use the radiotool to do our tests

    • Is the country code set properly?

We set it when we loaded the image, I can't verify that the settings are right.

    Sincerly,

    Maxime

  • Hi Maxime,

If you're using Radio Tool, what version Radio Tool are you using?

Are you flashing the device with Programming.sli that can be found in the Radio Tool directory Devices Images -> CC3x35MOD image -> Mod_NonAntenna -> CC3235S image?

The country code can be configured on the Radio Tool GUI. Ensure this is set to EU.

    BR,

    Seong

  • Hi Seong,

To use Radio Tool, we go directly through the construction of a project via code composer studio.

    we use the project :

    network_terminal_CC3235S_LAUNCHXL_tirtos_gcc

    with

    simplelink_cc32xx_sdk_5_20_00_06

as a parameter we used :

    Sincerly,

    Maxime Lorimier

  • Hi Maxime,

Did we review the board design? You can request a review here.

Have you tried using the latest SDK? You can also download the Radio Tool GUI from this same page.

Try using the Radio Tool GUI. Here is the User's Guide

    BR,

    Seong

  • Hi Seong,

We didn't do a design review, the TI docs are enough. I'll make a post to see if we missed something.

We didn't test the latest SDK, SDK versions can impact Wifi performance? I'm a bit surprised, it means we have to test each of your versions before release to make sure we are still in conformity? Have you made any changes lately that could correct our problem?

The last link "user's guide" does not work, can you fix it.

    Sincerly,

    Maxime

  • Maxime,

Not the SDK versions, but the service pack impacts WiFi performance. So really, I was checking if the latest FW was being used.

I reviewed the EN 310 893 document, but do not see the -30 dBm limit requirement for 10362MHz in Table 2. What am I missing?

TPC Function is not supported by the CC3235MODx so this test may not be required at all. I'll check with our test house. Below images are from the CC3235MOD CE test reports

    Seong
