Hi team,

The customer would like to test the power consumption of the CC3235MODSF which is drawn by themselves. Is it proper to measure it directly with the development board of the LAUNCHXL-3235SF plus IMETER-BOOST?

Could you help resolve this case? Thanks.

Hi Cherry,

If you are trying to measure the current drawn by the CC3235MODSF, then please use the headers on the launchpad itself. The launchpad user's guide has these instructions, please read through section 4.1.2. "Active Current Measurements": https://www.ti.com/lit/swru548

From the customer's understanding: IMETER-BOOST requires a backplane to communicate with it, so a development board for LAUNCHXL is required(the spec for IMETER-BOOST requires the use of the CC3200 LaunchPadTm, see Section 1.3: https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/swru532a/swru532a.pdf)

Customer only have the DEMO board for the LAUNCHXL-3235SF. To use it work with IMETER-BOOST, or the board for the CC3200 is required?

Hi Cherry,

Yes, in order to use the IMETER-BOOST, you should be using it with a CC3200. This is because the already provided software is intended for the CC3200.

However, the IMETER BOOST only uses I2C and GPIO pins to communicate, so using the CC3235 should be possible. But, the already developed example software and javascript files will not work.
