CC3235MODASF: Connection status and upload/download speed indication

Hi,

Is there an available function or example that shows the connection status when the CC3235 is configured in AP mode?  Is there also way to determine or indirectly gauge the speed of data upload/download?  Background of the question is that when testing my application there was a brief power outage that reset the router that my CC3235MODAS module was connected to and i had no way of telling that the router went offline.  I figured that if i can regularly poll the connection status or monitor data upload/download speed, it would be something that i can add to my code.  Appreciate any suggestions.
