LAUNCHCC3235MOD: Battery power supply

Part Number: LAUNCHCC3235MOD

Hello!

I have 5V power supply (battery) and want to use J19 for power supply.

On the page #23 in user guide we can see schematics to power the board from external power supply.

But there is a misconfusing mistake in the text or picture.

Should be BRD connected by wire to 5V or VBAT?

BRD+VBAT does not word.

BRD+5V... seems to work (at least D7 lights up) but seems that MCU won't boot. I have simple example toggling LED... but LED is always in white.

Powering via XDS110 works and LED is toggling.

Many thanks

  • Hi Igor,

You are correct, that is a mistake on the picture as this section actually covers how to externally power with 3V3. The jumper wire should connect from BRD to VBAT. We'll need to get this updated.

Since you are externally powering your LaunchPad with a 5V power supply, you should not remove any jumpers on the isolation block. Just ensure that a USB cable is not connected.

By using J19, you'll connect your 5V power to the VCC_MCU_5V net. In the image below, you can see that the 5V will go straight to the LDO where it will be stepped down to 3V3 to power the EVM.

    BR,

    Seong
