CC3220SF: Current consumption

Part Number: CC3220SF

Hi Team,

I have a question about the current consumption of Wi-Fi SoC.

For CC32x0SF, CC32x0, I would like to know the current consumption on the conditons below:

1.Unconnected(neither reception nor transmission)

2.Unconnected and scanning(Active scan)

3.Unconnected and scanning(Passive Scan)

Best Regards,

Tom Liu

  • Hi Tom,

I don't have exact values to provide since this isn't specifically spec'd in the data sheet. However, an estimate should be able to be obtained using Section 8.6 of the data sheet.

For condition 1 - no TX or RX is being performed so the NWP will be idle and you would reference the row in accordance to the MCU state

For condition 2 - both TX and RX is performed during active scanning so you would add those two consumption values together. Again refer to the row in accordance to the MCU state.

For condition 3 - only RX  is performed for passive scanning so you just to need to use that value from the respective MCU state row.

  • Thank you for the explanation.
In the case of MCU LPDS, the current consumption in the idle state is as small as 710μA,
Is it possible to receive a signal from the AP (access point) while the MCU LPDS is idle?

  • Hi,

Sorry for the delay. If the NWP is active, it should be able to transmit and receive from the AP even while the MCU is idle.
