CC3235MODAS: Is support planned for TLS v1.3?

Part Number: CC3235MODAS

Hey Wi-Fi team,

I have a customer evaluating the CC3235x family for a new Wi-Fi project and we are wondering about the current or future plans to support TLS v1.3.

Do you have any comments here or feedback on supporting this protocol?

Best regards,

Matt Calvo

  • We are planning to have an example using external TLS stack (mbedTLS) with TLS v1.3 support. It should be included in the Q1 SDK (around e/o march).

Note that since we will use an external stack (i.e. the stack is not running within the NWP but on the application M4) and since the stack footprint is ~200KB - it will be available only on the SF devices (which executes from the on-chip 1MB XiP flash). The S devices and modules only contains 256KB RAM for both code and data which will not be enough.

We don't have plans to update the NWP's internal TLS stack.

  • Thanks for the heads up on this Kobi! I will pass this info along to my customer and notify them to comment back on this thread with any follow-up questions as needed.

    Best regards,

    Matt
