Hi All,

We are using CC3220MODASF12MONR with 1MB Flash, 256kB RAM. Because of the stock availability and long lead time we are looking in to using CC3220MODSM2MOBR with only 256kB RAM. Additional flash memory would allow us further development in the future. 

Questions:

  1. Can we add External flash memory to CC3220MODSM2MOBR? What is the maximum size it would support. 
  2. If we can add external memory what bus would you recommend to use? Any chip recommendation?

    Hey Michael,

    These modules will already have external Flash memory to hold things like the service pack, application, etc that would be loaded at boot. This external flash would use the SPI interface and not be something that instructions can be executed from. This would limit its usage and would not be equivalent to the internal XIP Flash.

    I want to also note that the new device you are looking at won't have an integrated antenna like the previous.
