Hello all,

it is possible to change the image mode from "production mode" to "development mode" on a running device that is programmed in the "production mode" without new flashing the device?
E.g. by manipulating the SOP pins to activate the UART communication with the ROM bootloader or by starting a UniFlash program and immediately terminating the connection or by downloading an "evel" binary by the ROM bootloader after the UART communication is realized?

I did not found any statement about it.

Hi Roman,

There is not a way to change to change the mode of the device without flashing the new image.

In addition to answer from Rogelio:

No, that attack vector is not possible. During image programming is cleared part of SPI flash needed for decoding rest files at filesystem.

As far I know only reasonable achievable way it to extract unencrypted files from SPI flash using 3rd party programmer. Encrypted files are safe. Other potential vectors of attack I will not discussed publicly.
