CC3301: Wake on WLAN (WoW)

Hi,

I am using a CC3301 and try to test the WoW feature.

Using the following firmware and driver versions:

wlcore: Wireless driver version 1.7.0.128
wlcore: Wireless firmware version 1.7.0.188
wlcore: Wireless PHY version 1.2.39.5.44.67

I will try the following procedure:

iw dev
iw phy#0 wowlan disable any
iw phy#0 wowlan show
iw phy#0 wowlan enable magic-packet
iw phy#0 wowlan show

But already when trying to disable or show, I got the message:

iw phy#0 wowlan show
command failed: Operation not supported (-95)

Any Ideas, what could be the reason for this?

Hi SJ,

Are you using kernel 6.1? If you do 'iw list', do you see any information about WoWLAN support?

For example, I see the following snippet when I issue 'iw list':

WoWLAN support:
         * wake up on anything (device continues operating normally)
         * wake up on pattern match, up to 5 patterns of 1-91 bytes,
           maximum packet offset 0 bytes

Yes, I'm on kernel version 6.1.36.

But unfortunately, I don't see the WoWLAN feature, when looking into "iw list". Is there something wrong with the drivers, because in https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/swru616b/swru616b.pdf?ts=1733248953827&ref_url=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.google.com%252F I can see that this one is in the features list? Is there something I have to enable before building the image in my yocto?

If I'm not mistaken, your interrupt needs to be configured as out of band, not in-band, in the device tree in order to support Wake On Wireless.

Hi SJ,

Do you have CONFIG_PM enabled in your kernel defconfig? This is the kernel option that enables it.
