CC3351: CC3351 host protocol documentation and RTOS SDK availability

Part Number: CC3351

Hello,

We are interested in evaluating the CC3351 for real-time image and video transmission. Our plan is to use it together with an FPGA SoC and control it from an RTOS. At this stage we have not yet decided which RTOS to use (Zephyr or FreeRTOS).

For initial standalone testing, we are currently evaluating a setup based on the PAN W602-2C module together with an STM32, using the Ezurio STM32 to M.2 2230 adapter board.

After reviewing the available documentation, the device operation is still not entirely clear to us. In the Host Interfaces document, section 4.1 briefly mentions the protocol, but only at a very high level. Additionally, the RTOS SDK User’s Guide appears to be incomplete:

https://dev.ti.com/tirex/explore/node?isTheia=false&node=A__AEIJm0rwIeU.2P1OBWwlaA__CC33XX-RTOS-MCU__dzPVh4K__LATEST

Therefore, we have a few questions:

  1. Is there any documentation available that describes the host protocol in detail for managing the device?

  2. Are there plans to complete the RTOS SDK documentation?

  3. Are there any plans to release an SDK based on FreeRTOS or Zephyr?

Best regards.

  • Hi,

The only documentation we currently have is the one you have.

yes, we are planning to improve documentation and release it as part of the SDK mainly (as there are some off-SDK documentation as well).

The SDK now is using FreeRTOS already so I am not sure why you mentioned FreeRTOS as missing. Can you elaborate?

    Regards,

    Shlomi
