Hello TI,

My customer is planning on using the WL1801MOD in an upcoming design.

They do not plan on using an OS on the Microblaze processor in the FPGA they're going to use. 

Is this a problem?  Can they use the WL1801MOD without an OS?

    I've read the other link and it's not answering my specific question.  Are you saying that WL1801 absolutely requires some kind of OS whether supported by TI or a 3rd party?

    Hi Dan,
    I'd be very surprised if there was no OS of any kind running on the processor. Something needs to manage the SDIO interface, schedule the interrupt handling and manage memory.
    So the answer to your question is yes an OS (of some kind is mandatory) . If they are using a High Level OS (HLOS) such as Linux or Android then our Linux package works fine. If they are using an Real Time OS (RTOS) such as Nucleus or QNX then there are already WiLink8 drivers available. If they are using another one such as freeRTOS then the best option is to engage with a 3rd party such as Clarinox (www.clarinox.com).
