Hello,

I've tried the uart demo example on cc3200 launchpad. I am able to view the data on a terminal software putty on my computer through the usb cable.

Now if I connect a TTL Uart to USB converter to the launchpad and check my terminal software, I see nothing. But the data is still seen on the com port to which my launchpad is connected.

What changes should be done to hardware so that I can view my data through the TTL converter and not through the launchpads com port.

Hi Praveen,

Did you change the jumpers on J6 and J7 to route the UART signals to the 20 pin boosterpack connector?

See page 10 of the user's guide for a picture of the jumper settings.

Hi Michael,

I placed the jumpers according the settings given in the user guide.

Then the connection for uart is done according to the image given in the user guide also shown above.

I'm connecting pin 3 and 4 of p1 connector to the TTL Uart to usb converter, but still I'm not getting any result.

I tried with 3 TTL converters which I have, but still no results.

Are there any othe changes to be done for UART??

Hi Praveen,

For the uart demo example project, the UART signals are not muxed out to pin 3 and 4. As you can see in pinmux.c, the UART signals are muxed out to pin 55 (TX) and pin 57 (RX). Try connecting your UART to USB converter to those pins.

Hi Michael,

Thank you. I'm able to view the data using the TTL converter.

If I want to use two uarts on the launchpad, are there any changes to be done with connections??

Hi Praveen,

To use an additional UART, there are a couple changes that needs to be made.

First, you need to configure the pin multiplexer to connect the package IO pins to the UART. You can look at section 16.4 of the TRM for reference on the pin mux settings, or you can use the pin mux tool to generate the appropriate pinmux.c file for you.

Next, you have to configure the UART peripheral and set up the second UART. This involves calling MAP_UARTConfigSetExpClk() with the base address of the second UART.
