CC3100MOD: Security Update over WiFi

Part Number: CC3100MOD

Hello,

Am I correct in saying that on C3100MOD the SSL/TLS stacks are embedded and programmed in production which can't be updated later over Wifi?

If yes, is there any solution to this?

Background: My customer has an internet connected application which must be able to connect to internet with secure (SSL/TLS) connection and be able to download valid keys over wifi.

Best regards,

Mizanur/mmFAE, EMEA

  • Hi Mizanur,

The SSL/TLS stack is embedded in the product although one can implement a proprietary stack on the host on top of the non-secured (TCP) sockets.
If you are concerned about the keys (certificates) for specific connection - they can be updated by the software (through OTA).
If the concern is about changes in the SSL/TLS protocol - those are very rare and some can be handled by a SW patches (i.e. in a new service pack).
