I cant set the cc3200 sensortag to station mode. I tried both with my iphone app and also windows browser.

is it possible to set it to station mode and send data directly to the cloude (ie. ibm watson) without using any mobile app ?

Hi Sephyr,
The sensortag needs to be provisioned before it can connect to the internet, and for this you use the app.

Hi Aaron,

I know that I need to provision it. when I connect it to my mobile app and try to set the wifi setting (SSID and password), it doesnt work.

Hi Sepehr,

Please make sure you have updated the sensortag firmware through the mobile application prior to provisioning. If you are using an Android device to provision, try turning off your mobile data connection and repeating the process.

Also, please verify that you have set the correct security type when configuring the network information.

Hi Benjamin,

Thanks for your reply. It seems like it doesn't connect to my 5 GHz wifi router but connected to my 2.4 GHz one. can you confirm this if it doesn't connect to the 5 GHz or something else was wrong on my settings.

I have another question. does it turn off it self after 90 seconds of inactivity ? even if its connected to wifi ?

Hi Sepehr,

Yes, that is to be expected. The CC3200 only supports operation at 2.4GHz. Yes, it will turn itself off after 90 seconds even if it has been connected to a Wi-Fi access point.
