Hi Elad,
This means that something is wrong with the image written to the FS (which causes a failure during the image extraction).
It is very strange (especially as you are using a module with SFLASH) and i've never faced such an error.
What version of uniflash are you using? (please try the latest just to be on the safe side)
Do you see this on a specific device or on several devices? Is it consistent?
Are you using a TI launchpad or your own board?
Br,
Kobi
Hi,
In addition to answer from Kibi. Information from device status windows when you are connected by the Uniflash to module may to be interesting as well.
Jan
Thanks for the quick replay.
Did some more testing (after updating Uniflash)
The issue appears only on my own board. I was able to flash both mcu and sp on the launchpad.
On my own board, I am using CC33220MODA with 8M external flash.
I can flash mcu or sp on the board, but not together.
Is that an indication of limited space? perhaps the external flash is corrupted? And is so, would it even be possible to flash CC3220MODA with no external flash?
Attached below is the device status after connection:
Thanks,
Elad
Hi Elad,
Do you use CC3220MOD and do you have connected additional SPI flash chip to FLASH_SPI_ pins?
Because CC3220MOD have integrated 4MB flash chip inside module already, you cannot connect additional chip to FLASH_SPI_ pins. Pins FLASH_SPI_ are dedicated for gang programming only. In case you connect additional chip to FLASH_SPI_ pin, it cause that you have two chips at same CS and this cannot work.
Jan
I am using CC3220MDASM2 so that makes sense. I'll remove it and retest. Thanks.
On the same subject, is there a way to add an external flash to CC3220MOD at all or is it only for the CC3220 version?
Thanks,
Elad
Hi Elad,
In case you need bigger size of sFlash you need to use CC3220 in QFN package. In case you need bigger storage for CC3220MOD you can to use additional storage like at SD card or another flash chip connected to I2C or SPI bus (not connected to FLASH_SPI_ pins).
Jan
The modules was not designed to be work with an external flash and we want recommend trying this.
As Jan mentioned, the interface was only provided to enable the gang programming.
