CC3100MODBOOST: Unable to get address from DHCP server in AP mode

You will need to reset the device for the DHCP changes to take effect. Please try a sl_Stop() sl_Start() cycle after you configure.

Thanks for the suggestion.  That didn't appear to make any difference.  I added a stop/start after checking the DHCP server parameters (whether or not they needed to be set.) It is still not responding to DHCP DISCOVER messages once my client laptop has connected to the AP.

I also tried reversing the byte order of all the addresses that I'm using (static AP config and DHCP server config) since the macros SL_IPV4_BYTE and SL_IPV4_VAL seem to imply the opposite order from what I expected.  No success with the DHCP server either way.

just to verify, if you don't configure the DHCP settings, does the device acquire a IP Address with the default values?

No Vince, even if I don't configure the DHCP server settings after booting up my system and CC3100, I'm not able to get a IP address from the CC3100's DHCP server.  It doesn't appear to be responding to DHCP DISCOVER messages at all.

Hi Vince, what's the best next step on this issue?  I provided wireshark and NWP logs in the original post.

If you look inside the Out Of Box example, there should be a uniflash image config that you can use to flash the device back to Out Of Box settings. After you've done this, try connecting to the device. You should be able to acquire a DHCP address.

I have tested this on my end and was unable to reproduce this issue. I was able to get an IP address with the Out Of Box example.

Vice thanks, that was helpful in a way.  I didn't use the Out Of Box example but I did use uniflash to directly reset some settings to narrow down the issue.

I found that I can do everything I was doing before _except_ set the AP security type to WEP with the 10 character ASCII password that I'm using.  This is the only thing now that is preventing the DHCP server from working.  If I leave the security type as Open, it works fine.  Set it to WEP and it will not respond to DHCP DISCOVER messages.

I disabled that part of the configuration in my code and tried to set the same thing via Uniflash but that results in my system not being able to init the CC3100.

Can you help me understand why this security type would be related to the failure of the DHCP server and how to fix it?

As a followup, the DHCP server appears to work correctly when using no security (Open) and when using WPA2.  Just not when using WEP as I have been attempting to do.

If you set a static IP for the device, does the device connect successfully?

It connects.  I get the SL_WLAN_STA_CONNECTED_EVENT event in the wlan event handler.

However when I set the static IP and try to ping the CC3100's IP address (192.168.1.1), it times out.

Do you have another Boosterpack that you can test with? Are you setting the static IP on the AP side or the device side? be sure to set it on the AP side as well.

What's the point of using another boosterpack?

I've always set the static IP on the AP side (192.168.1.1) and have tried setting it on the device side also (192.168.1.2.)

There is still a problem with WEP but I've moved on to use WPA2 and am satisfied with that.  WPA2 is a preferred connection anyhow.  I don't need WEP to work at this point any longer.
