CC3135MOD: inquiries about TX-power and MIC (Japanese regulation)

Part Number: CC3135MOD

Hello team,

We received some inquiries about TX-power and MIC (Japanese regulation). According to CC3135MOD datasheet[5.6 TX Power Control for 2.4 GHz Band], customer understands that they are able to modify the output power of the device. However, if customer will modify this Tx output power, would you consider that customer need to re-test MIC (Japanese regulation) ?

Also, in the case of MIC regulation test, customer would like to know Output power setting. Could you clarify it, please?

Should I request customer to refer PDF files in the following Japanese government URL? (Sorry.I could not find English URL)

https://www.tele.soumu.go.jp/giteki/SearchServlet?pageID=jg01_01&PC=201&TC=N&PK=1&FN=190919N201&SN=%94%46%8F%D8&LN=19&R1=*****&R2=*****

We know that customer is able to request Certification-help on the URL(https://www.ti.com/tool/SIMPLELINK-CC3XXX-CERTIFICATION). However, before that, It is appreciated if you will be able to share expert's comments on those inquiries because customer is asking them.

Best regards,

Miyazaki

  • Hi Takayuki,

I'll get back to you on the question concerning re-test if TX output power is modified.

When we certified the CC3135MOD, the output power setting was set to 0, the maximum power. The latest ServicePack FW was modified to pass MIC regulation.

  • Takayuki,

Please refer to our CC3135MOD Japan Certification Reports and see the output power stated in the reports. If the customer modifies the output power, it must be within the range of +20% ~ -80%. If it does not meet this requirement, then they will need to re-test.

So if the customer wants to lower the output power, for example, it cannot be less than -80% of what is stated in our report and all of their production devices must meet this.

I recommend the customer reaches out to their test house to confirm this.

    BR,

    Seong

  • Hi Seong,

Thank you very much for your clarification.

I’ll share your comments with customer soon.

    Best regards,

    Miyazaki
