Hello everyone.

There is a problem that the Wi-Fi module is not recognized on the board of Zynq-7000 (model: XC7Z007S-2CLG400E) equipped with wl1801MOD.
As a development environment
Yocto (poky-thud-20.0.3)
linux-kernel 4.14.0
We are developing with our own board using.

As for the problem occurrence situation, when booting linux, the error "wl1271_sdio mmc1: 01: 2: sdio write failed (-84)" occurred, and
It does not recognize wlcore and wlcore_sdio. However, looking at the waveform, it looks like it is working properly.
I tried almost all the solutions to the problem that the error content posted on the forum was similar, but it didn't work.

I've attached a boot log, kernel config, and device tree as it may help resolve this issue.
Also, if you need a circuit diagram, you can attach it.

We would appreciate it if you could help us solve this problem.

Hi,

Seems like WiLink8 module was detected during boot up. Did you try reducing SDIO clk frequency and re-test ?

I tried SDIO clk with 10M and 25M, but it didn't solve the problem.

When I added the kernel(See kernel_config.txt), the message at startup changed a little, but the message wl1801 ERROR: wl1271_sdio mmc1: 01 01: 2: sdio write failed (-84) was displayed, and the problem was not solved.
However, when I execute the lsmod command, does it recognize WLCORE etc? A message that seems to be displayed. (See lsmod.txt)
Can you answer what this condition indicates and what this error message is failing to write to SDIO?

Also, the message "wlan-en-regulator: disabling" is displayed in the message at startup, but when I checked the waveform of WL_EN,
WL_EN is low when this message is displayed, and WL_EN is always high when no message is displayed.
Please answer which is normal.

I attached the device tree in my last post, but didn't mention pinctrl. Do I need to mention pinctrl?

Hi,

"wlan-en-regulator: disabling" can definitely cause an issue . May be check dts settings. You may use this as reference :https://git.ti.com/cgit/wilink8-wlan/wl18xx/tree/arch/arm/boot/dts/am335x-bone-e14-wl1837.dtsi?h=R8.7_SP2

For mmc , we have "keep-power-in-suspend; " etc . defined

As a result of changing the command transmission timing of SDIO, the error of ERROR: wl1271_sdio mmc1: 01: 2: sdio write failed (-84) is no longer displayed. However, messages such as wlcore loaded are not displayed, and the message wl1271_sdio: probe of mmc1: 01: 1 failed with error -110 is now displayed.
What does this message indicate?
Please give me an answer.

We solved the problem and had great success.
The wireless LAN chip recognized the wifi module, a message such as wlcore_loaded was displayed, and it was confirmed that Ping could pass between the boards.
The solution was to set the SDIO clock at 25M on the hardware side. On the software side, to sdhci in the device tree adding "broken-mmc-high speed;" mmc 1 was started in "standard speed mode" instead of "fast mode", and the problem was solved.

Finally, I've attached a device tree for reference.
