About CC3200 & Apple WAC (Wireless Access Configuration)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC3200

Hi everybody.

I made a program with cc3200 and SmartConfig.

But my client requested me to configure cc3200 board with Apple WAC.

So I enrolled as an apple developer and MFi. (It takes $75 in coface).

Some days later they will send me a confirmation e-mail.

My question is

1.  CC3200 has a WAC feature. If I execute Homekit related program (for example Apple sample code HMCatalog), add accessories can find CC3200?

2. Or need something different? .. please tell me about that.

3. Is there any other sample program or pre-released application or product with CC3200 that has WAC feature?

Sincerely yours.

  • Hi. Glenn.

    Thanks for your immediate reply.

I already checked the post that you point out.

Ok. But that is just a superficial to me.. sorry.

So I'll post all the procedure about WAC and how to achive that with iPhone after I got a MFi cericification.

    Sincerely yours.

  • Hi Yong Hee,

I am currently at the same point as you were in june.

Currently preparing an application that has to scan and detect an MFI/WAC accessory and configure it.

We tried the HMCatalog application, but still see some problems with it :

    • If you start the accessory scan page, and put your hardware into WAC mode 2 times, then :
      • 1st time in WAC mode, scan will succeed (accessory detected)
      • 2nd time in WAC mode, scan never detects accessory
    • Therefore the EAWifiUnconfiguredAccessoryBrowser class seems to have some issues.
    • I had to kind use this class as a singleton (using a new "Browser" class) in order to keep it safe

Have you seen any such problems on your side ?
Is the WAC working right for you ?

    Thanks for your help,

    Sincerely,

  • Hi Abb. W.

After posting.. I've deal to retrieve MFi License and finally I got it.

I saw "Homekit specification" document(also you did it I guess), and there wrote...

    1. You should embed an authentication co-processor via I2C(Infineon chipset)

    2. And provisioning with UDP packet is required (It is difficult and time consuming  process to implement.. I guess)

    These are all I've seen...

Then I have a question .... You mentioned "Put hardware into WAC mode"

How did you put WAC mode? Is that exist? You implemented all the feature that WAC requires?

In my opinion, TI announcing that supports WAC feature is

    1. Only WiFi certified (because apple WAC requires this feature)

    2. TI CC3200 chipset/software doesn't support any software component that deals WiFi discovering.

    Best regards.
