Monitor mode with WL183x is not working

Dear all,

Greetings !!!

I am using WL183x with AM335x. My wlan0 interface is up and working in managed mode.

But my requirement is Monitor mode on Wlan0, I am able to get the mon0 mode with airmon-ng tool.

But I am unable to capture the sniffing data (which is working with WL1271).

can any one please tell me, where I am missing to get the sniffing data.

Thanks & Regards,

Bhaskar

    Hello Gigi Joseph,

    Thank you for your information.

May i know, it is completely not supported ? (or) with current SDK release it is not supported ?
The problem with firmware (or) in Driver ?

    regards,
    Bhaskar

    Hello Gigi Joseph,

    Thanks for your confirmation.

Can i get source code of firmware (or) git repository of firmware ?

    Regards,
    Bhaskar.
  • In reply to samantula bhaskarrao:

    Hi Bhaskar,

No, the firmware source is proprietary.
You can get the binary from: git://git.ti.com/wilink8-wlan/wl18xx_fw.git

    Joseph,

Can you tell more precisely what is not supported?

With monitor mode I can see auth/deauth, assoc/deassoc frames but I can't see probe requests/probe responses. Are they not supported?

    Thank you.
  • In reply to Dmitry Bodnya:

    Hi Dmitry,

Sorry for the late reply. The mode itself is not supported. Enabling it would require firmware/driver changes.
You can work with 3rd party who supports monitor mode.
    Please see the details below:

    Company: Intelligraphics
    Their CEO Scott Lawson (scott.lawson@intelligraphics.com)

    Regards,
    Gigi Joseph.
