CC3220: Can the internal RTC be used for scheduling the execution of tasks on specific Dates / Times?

Hi,

I want to use the internal RTC to schedule any task on a particular Date / Time.

Eg: Run a task on 30th June 2017 at 03:15 pm

I also wanted to know whether the RTC gets reset if the device is powered off.

I cannot find the reference for anything similar in the Datasheet of CC3220, nor on the forum. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place.

Could someone please help me?

Hi Charles,

I read the above links and arrived at the conclusion that I will have to add an external RTC chip, as the CC3220SF won't retain the RTC state accurately (OR maybe not at all?) following power failure. Plus the application won't have access to the Internet.

Hi Piyush,

If you need reliable RTC with backup is definitely better to use external RTC with small battery (or supercap). Power consumption of CC3220/CC3200 with RTC in hibernate is not small (4.5 μA).
