Linux/WL1835MOD: MIMO ANT1 and ANT2 wiring length restriction

Part Number: WL1835MOD
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: WL1835

Tool/software: Linux

Hello,

Our board using  WL1835 with MIMO (ANT1 & ANT2)

Is there restriction of ANT1 and ANT2 wiring length ?

ANT1 > ANT2     -> OK (Eval board)

ANT1 < ANT2    ->  No restriction / NG

  • Hello,

    The module has on board antennas that are connected by default. Do you plan to modify the module to use the external UFL connectors and connect external antennas?

    BR,
    Eyal
  • Hi Eyal

    No external antennas and no modify the TI module. We manufacture the board and the chip antenna is mounted on the board like the TI module.

    So the question is the wiring length on the board.

    Thank you and best regards,
    Kikuchi
  • Hi Kikuchi,

    For certification purposes the ANT1 length/loss minimum must be maintained. We recently have issues a C2PC change for this and you can either maintain the length of the trace from the part to the U.FL connector or add an equivalent 1dB loss (via trace, cable or pi-pad). The ANT2 distance

    The distance between the 2 antennas should be at least 1/2 lamda to for best performance. You can increase the distance between ANT2 and the part, but for the part to ANT1 you must maintain a minimum 1dB loss.

    This is required if you are going to reuse our certification.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks,
    Riz
