SimpleLink Wi-Fi CC3120 BoosterPack and CC31XXEMUBOOST

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC31XXEMUBOOST, CC3120

Hi,

Is it mandatory to buy CC31XXEMUBOOST when I adquire CC3120 WiFi Booster pack?

What happens if I dont get the emuboost?

(I'm working with  MSP-EXP432P401R LaunchPad Bundle) but I see that it is suggested to buy EMU and WiFi boosters....

Can I just get the WiFi booster(CC3120) without the EMUBOOST?

Thanks,

Esteban Valverde

  • Hi Esteban Valverde,

It is not mandatory to buy the CC31XXEMUBOOST when you are using the CC3120 BP.
The main purpose of the EMUBOOST is to provide a convenient debug platform to use for flashing and debug of the CC3120. However, the debugger on the MSP432 launchpad, the XDS110, is capable of those tasks. I have an E2E post here that shows you how to wire up the XDS110 onboard the MSP432 LP to the CC3120 for flashing:

The EMUBOOST is mostly a product for users who want to use the CC3120 with a non-TI MCU platform and thus do not have access to the XDS110 that ships on many of our SimpleLink platform launchpads.
