CC3200: Data Rate and Resolution

Part Number: CC3200

Hello

We have application where we would like  to stream Video Camera data over wifi connection.

We understand that the Jacinta Processor might be our best option. However, we believe this would be costly for our application. We looked at CC3200 and in particular TIDC-CC3200-VIDEO reference design.

Our questions are;

·        It seems that the best video resolution we can stream using this reference design is 720p at 30FPS. Is that; (1)camera limitation, (2)wi-fi data rate limitation or there is another reason?

·        Does TI offer any other platform (apart from CC3200) that would allow us improving the data rate and hence and the video streaming resolution

·        We are unable to source that Omni OV788 board. Any advice where can we get it?

Regards

Sam

  • Hi Sam,

    I can't give any info about the availability of the OV788 reference board. You may want to move to the OV798 for better resolution. The interfacing for the OV798 and OV788 are basically the same with the CC3220, but you will have to contact Omnivision for design details
