Hi Will,
What does the customer mean by 5.8G Wi-Fi? That is not a formal Wi-Fi standard.
The CC3235 supports 802.11a/b/g/n, and can operate on the 5GHz 20-MHz BW U-NII bands. Those bands include frequencies ranging from 5160GHz to 5825GHz. Thus, if the customer is asking about whether the CC3235 supports operating at 5.8GHz, then this is supported.
However, the CC3235 does not support 802.11ac. It only supports up to 802.11n, even though it can operate on the 5Ghz channels that the 802.11ac spec requires. As such, if the customer is referring to 802.11ac, then the CC3235 will not be suitable.
Let me know if you need more clarification or have further questions on this topic.
Regards,
Michael
