CC3235MODASF: RF Exposure at less than 20cm

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC3200

Dear Support,

To comply to the RF exposure requirements, we know that our module including the antenna should operate at a distance of >20cm from the user.

In the case of an end equipment closed to the body user (less than 20cm), would you have any advice on the settings (output power, etc...) or design rules we should follow?

Do we have any experience or collateral for such cases, when we need to operate at less that 20cm?

Regards,

  • As I have understood it, most regulations (ETSI, FCC, IC) have an extra set of rules/ tests a device that should be used on (or very close to) a human body have to pass. Meaning that if you want to be closer than 20 cm you don't necessarily have to change settings but you have to pass more tests. I haven't looked up exactly which tests that has to be run. You can contact a test house for more information and/ or look into ETSI/ FCC.

  • Hi,

Yes, this depends on final product design and it is hard to provide any general answer. Close cooperation with test house is a best way.

But you can contact TI employees which was responsible for certification of CC3200 SesnorTag. I think problems during this certification may to be a good lesson.
