CC3220MODA: Limit transmit duty cycle to max 50%

Part Number: CC3220MODA

Hi team,

Can you comment on my customers request?

In the datasheet for the cc3220moda in chapter 5.3 there is an operating temperature of 85°C. However, the transmit duty cycle must be less than 50% to prevent the auto protection from responding.

We would like to simulate this requirement in a climate test. Therefore different transmit duty cycles have to be set at different temperatures. Especially from 75°C a maximum transmit duty cycle of 50%.

After consulting our programmers, this is not easily possible, because the data rate fluctuates and adapts to the cell load.

1. is there a possibility to set the transmit duty cycle to reach a maximum of 50%?
2. is there perhaps already software or a test environment/documentation that we can work with without the programmers having to program?

Thank you,

Franz

  • Hi Franz,

My colleague will look into it and get back to you ASAP.

    Thanks,

    Alexis

  • Hi Franz,

You can modify the duty cycle by using the Radio Tool GUI for this experiment.

The GUI can be downloaded from this page.

The Radio Tool User's Guide is here.

Using Radio Tool, transmit using Packetized Mode and view the signal on a spectrum analyzer with the span set to 0. By changing the Size and Delay, you can change the duty cycle.

For reference, I've modified the duty cycle in the past to 30% on an 11b signal. The size and delay were set to 400 Bytes and 12mSec.

    Hope this helps,

    Seong
