WL1837MOD: About the parameters when getting FCC with modules (2.4GHz and 5GHz)

Genius 5340 points
Part Number: WL1837MOD

Hi experts,

Currently, my customer has created a custom board using the WL1837MODGI. They are trying to get FCC approval on their custom board and are using the "Calibrator Tool" to measure the power waveform. To do so, they are investigating the following.WiLink8 Calibrator Tool User's Guide

Q1: Could you please tell me the following parameters when TI obtained FCC approval for the module at 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies?

  • tune_channel Command Parameters
  • set_tx_power Command Parameters
  • start_tx Command Parameters
  • other (if there are any other settings you need)

Q2: Could you tell us how you obtained the FCC?
I checked the "WL18MODGI Module Certification Reports" document, but it seems that you did not use the Calibrator, but used some kind of tool on your PC. I would like to know what tool was used on the PC and what setting values were used on the module.WL18XX-REPORTS_4.10.00.00

I apologize for the rush, but the customer is in a great hurry and would appreciate a response by 1/21. If you need more time than that, please let me know.

Best regards,
O.H

  • Hi O.H.,

I'll look into this and get back to you shortly.

  • O.H.,

    1.

Unfortunately, we do not have the full set of commands that were used during certification.

I advise that you use the appnote and refer to the examples provided starting from pg. 8.

The key, however, is to set the channel_limitation bit to 1 to enable using the INI file. This way, you don't need to worry about setting the power.

The point is that the INI file is what we used for FCC certification.

    2.

For some of the certification tests, the RTTT GUI was used instead. See here.

    BR,

    Seong

  • Hi Seong,

Sorry for the delay in replying.

I understood that you can use INI files to configure the power settings. I will ask them to use RTTT to configure the module.

Thank you very much for your quick support.
