Linux/OMAP5432-EVM: Best WiLink Module and SW To Test With

Part Number: OMAP5432-EVM

Tool/software: Linux

WiLink experts,

Greetings!  I am in search of a WiLink module and corresponding SW to interface to both the WLSDIO3 and SDIO4 modules on OMAP5432-EVM.  The goal is to validate read/write access on the units under different operating frequency, # bits, voltage, and temperature range.  Can you help recommend a module and the corresponding codes (driver, firmware, revision) to execute this task?

I searched through the forum and found two topics that may be related, but I am not sure if WL1857 would best fit my purpose, or if another module will do better.

OAMP5 - WL1857:  e2e.ti.com/.../1136537

WL18XX MOD varities:  https://e2e.ti.com/support/wireless_connectivity/wilink_wifi_bluetooth/f/307/t/453919

Let me know if you need me to clarify anything.  Have a great day!

Shiou Mei

  • Shiou,

You might find the following useful regarding the SW.
    omapedia.org/.../Panda5AJ.1.5.1_Release_Notes
  • Vihang,

Thanks for the link!  I can certainly download the SW.  However, I am new to WiLink so may need a little more hand holding through the process.  Can you help me with the following...

    1. Which WiLink module is compatible and recommended for interface with OMAP5?
      1. Presumably also supported by drivers in the Panda5AJ.1.5.1 release

    2. Which Panda5AJ driver should be used for WiLink interface?  How should it be compiled?
    3. I don't see a user guide when under the SW download page.  Are there WiLink example applications available with Panda5AJ download?  If so, which ones?

    Thanks for your help!

    Regards,

    Shiou Mei

Looking through the documentation of this EVM, it looks like the WL18xx module is supposed to be already on the OMAP5432 EVM depending on the version number. I recommend you to post this query on the Automotive Processors Forum for confirmation.

You can also get a better answer to these questions on the Automotive Processor Forum. The WL18xx should have native support in the operating system you are using. Once the processor is up and running, we can help you on this forum regarding any WL18xx IC specific queries.

Hope you can find the answers you are looking for on the forum linked above.
