CC3220: Use Radio tool based on customer board

Part Number: CC3220

Hi Champs,

My customer build their own board and want to used radio tool on their own board. They used uniflash to program CC3220S_device_radiotool.sli. Customer said program successfully but can't use Radio tool. They open radio tool and UART connect successfully. but it looks like product information fetching fail. Please see below error message. Customer can use radiotool base on CC3220S launch pad with same uniflash programming step. Could you please tell that is CC3220S_device_radiotool.sli project setting related to CC3220S launchPad hardware setting? thanks !

  • Hi Lisa,

Can you please ensure that the customer has followed all the instructions in this document:

    www.ti.com/.../swru471.pdf

I suspect there is an issue where the device was not flashed with the corresponding service pack based on the radio tool version. This is explained in more detail in section 6 of the document.
  • Hi Austin,

thanks for your reply. Customer used uniflash and click on " program image ". They chose CC3220S_device_radiotool.sli and program it. I think service pack is also programmed into CC3220S due to .sli setting. Customer used the same programming step on CC3220SF launchPad which radio tool can work. But they used the same programming step on their own board and radio tool failed. That's why we think CC3220S_device_radiotool.sli setting might be related to HW. Could you please tell me how customer check CC3220S programming successfully? Is there any method to check what service pack version is in CC3220S ? I didn't see this function on uniflash and I might missed it. Is there any erase flash function without programming image for C3220S? Thanks.

  • Hi Lisa,

I'd recommend that the customer create a separate uniflash project adding only the latest service pack. Following this, the customer should flash the device and ensure there is no error returned during this process.

Next, perform the sequence you mentioned above--using uniflash to program the CC3220S_device_radiotool.sli

Please let me know if this resolves the issue.

  • hi Austin,
    This issue is solved. thanks
