Ryan Brown1 We have a new desing using CC1352P which runs on Simplelink_cc13x2_sdk_2_20_00_7. We send product sample for customer testing. However, we find there is no Zigbee signal sends out from this CC1352P device after it runs 3 months. It means that when this issue happens and we press the device button, the device doesn't send Zigbee report or beacon requests. Totally silent. When we power cycle the device first time, it still cannot send anything. When we do power cycle second time, it suddently send rejoin request and rejoin to network. Do you know this is a known issue of non-production CC1352P chip or SDK/Zigbee plugin (Simplelink_cc13x2_sdk_2_20_00_7)?

Hi YiKai,

This is not a known issue. Have you only seen one single failure, or do you have multiples? Did you do any debugging of the device before power cycling, measuring voltage pins for example?

We only see this on single device for now and don’t measure voltage pins when we do debug. As I mentioned, the GPIO still works fine. It still can detect button pressed and toggle relays so I don’t think there’s voltage problem. We would like to know if we can call any API to restart or re-init RF part of CC1352P?

I guess it may be the issue of rev C chip?

This is not a rev-C thing.

YiKai Chen , It is not possible for the RF core to hang while the chip otherwise runs normally. Either the whole thing runs, or it hangs. Also, you do re-init the RF core every time you have a new RF event.

Hi YK,

You've mentioned that the issue has only been observed on one device, can you easily replicate the behavior on this IC or did the problem only occur once and not any more after resetting twice? We need to be able to easily re-create the issue in order to further debug. Perhaps this could be a mechanical issue with the PCB? Perhaps you could implement a watchdog timer to avoid hangup?

This is the only one device we see this trouble after it runs about 3 months. We restart the device to test it again about two days ago on customer side but I suspect it’s not easy to reproduce. Since the device still works and only RF part doesn’t work, we don’t know how to implement watchdog. Do you know if we can restart RF part from application code so we can do something like restart RF periodically to avoid whole chip restarting?

Hi YK,

There is macLowLevelReset and ZMacReset but it is unclear whether this will resolve your issue or interfere with your application mid-operation.

I add macLowLevelReset into our application(we porting to simplelink_cc13x2_26x2_sdk_2_40_00_81). After executing macLowLevelReset, the RF cannot work anymore until power cycle. Do you have any suggestions when using macLowLevelReset? Thanks

We see this issue on single one CC1352P device and cannot reproduce the issue until now. It might not be related to your CC2538 issue.
