i try to run the “SmartRF Packet Sniffer 2” to sniff the thread protocol.

using this manual http://dev.ti.com/tirex/#/Search/Packet%20Sniffer%202/?link=Development%20Tools%2FUtilities%2FSmartRF%20Packet%20Sniffer%202%2FHelp%20Documentation

I download the FW to the CC2652R

And run the SmartRF Packet Sniffer 2” app.

But the app can’t find the device, the Device Configuration button is disable. And at the serial port setting I can’t select any port.

please your advise

Which version of SmartRF Packet Sniffer 2 are you using?

SmartRF Packet Sniffer 2 doesn't support rev. E. Rev. E support is scheduled for the next quarterly release.

Hello Severin,

I have exactly the same problem mentioned here: brand new LAUNCHXL-CC26X2R1 board (sticker "HW Rev: B, FW: SDK 2.40" on the bottom side of PCB), with CC2652R1 Rev. E silicon.

Outcome: SmartRF Packet Sniffer 2 (v 1.6.0) does not detect the hardware.

The problem also written about here.

When is the new release of SmartRF Packet Sniffer 2 coming? I think it is quite urgent because all the new Launchpad boards will have Rev E (or later) silicon, and going to encounter the same problem.

I appreciate any update; hope it can be expedited.

Hi Sparky,

As I said in the previous post, support for rev. E will come the next quarterly release, i.e. this quarter.

Yes, I read your note about "next quarterly release", but I'm unfamiliar with the TI release calendar. Does it mean next week, next month, April? Can you be more specific?

Thanks YiKai, it's a month away then... I'm surprised TI didn't update the sniffer application as Rev. E silicon was released. The incompatibility could have been anticipated and problem for all the customers avoided.

Anyway, thank you for the reference to M-W's reply.

The rev. E silicon hasn't been released to mass market yet. Release of tools with rev. E support will coincide with the release of rev. E silicon to the mass market.
