CC2592: CC2592

Part Number: CC2592
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2500,

We have used CC2500+CC2592 in our PCB with SMA connector for connecting whip antenna. Due product requirement change, we cannot use external antenna to SMA connector. Instead we plan to use SMD antenna and we have selected  Molded Interconnect Device (MID) Chip Antennas from Molex. Need suggestion on the PCB layout changes to be done to use this antenna in place of SMA connector. I have attached the datasheet of the antenna from Molex for reference.

  • The SMA connector is a 50 ohm interface. As far as I can see the recommendation for this antenna (www.molex.com/.../AS-146175-001-001.pdf ) is to add matching components. Hence the trace from the last component in the CC2592 filter/ match and the first component in the antenna matching network should be a 50 ohm trace (given that it's long enough to be regarded as a transmission line.

Do a suggested layout and we can take a quick look at the layout of the CC2592 and the part between the CC2592 and the antenna.
