CC2531: How to implement Green Power Device on CC2531

Part Number: CC2531
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: Z-STACK, CC2530

Hi TI Zigbee Expert

I see your official Z-Stack. Z-Stack 3.0.x can work on CC2531, but it doesn't support work as Green Power Device. Z-Stack 3.3.x can't work on CC2531, but it can work as Green Power Device on CC2652 chip. Am I right?

I want to implement a Zigbee Green Power Device on chip CC2531 or CC2530, do you have any suggestion on how to implement it?

  • Yes, your understanding it correct and there is no way to do green power device with current TI Z-Stack. It also doesn't make sense to use CC253x for green power device design since it's not very low power SOC. For green power devices, it's recommended to use CC2652R1.

  • Hi YiKai

    Thanks for your reply first.

We want to implement a Green Power Device not for real product but for testing a connect gateway. So the power cost is not important to us. We want to use CC2531 because there is a USB dongle based on CC2531. The dongle is great because the size is small and we need we need 100 the dongles. Do you have hardware like the USB dongle but use chip CC2652R1? Or do you know is there the hardware on the market?

Go back to the Z-Stack for CC2531/0,  do you have any suggestion or guild document on how to implement Green Power Device with less effort?  Any third party solution on it?

  • As I know, TI doesn't have hardware like the USB dongle but use chip CC2652R1 and I also don't see such product on the market. There is no document to guide you implementing green power device on CC253x device.

  • Thanks YiKai. Maybe I need change my solution.
