CC2530: Notification when device is lost from the network

Hi,

I have the ZDO_STATE_CHANGE event that is generated when a device changes state on the network .

I use this event when a device joins a network.

Is there an event or way of finding when a device leaves a network for some reason

You can also judge if a end device goes to orphan state in ZDO_STATE_CHANGE. To know if a device leaves a network, you can check ZDO_LeaveCnf and ZDO_LeaveInd in ZDApp.c.

These indicators seem to be for when a device intentionally leaves the network.

I would like to be notified when a device unintentionally leaves the network i.e looses power or has a flat battery or goes out of range

If you mean top know this on device itself, ZDO_STATE_CHANGE is what you need to check.

Thanks . I would like the coordinator to flag when a device unintentionally leaves the network.

Currently I am checking the time of the last message received and setting a flag if its longer than 30 sec.

but I am often getting a new Joined event without knowing the device had lost connection.

Zigbee spec doesn't define such behavior so you need to implement heartbeat sent from device to coordinator by yourself. If coordinator doesn't receive heartbeat from a device for a while, you can judge it might be turned off or out of radio coverage.

Hi Peter,

Note that you can use UTIL_GET_DEVICE_INFO and UTIL_ASSOC_COUNT to keep track of directly connected children and neighbors, end device association should be maintained by the child aging mechanism for Zigbee 3.0 and route neighbors are monitored through link status reception.
