Hi All,

Based on the use-case requirements we have to send our own data packet which includes a string "hello world" from [linux gate way]--->[znp device]--->[end device]--->[host of end device connected via uart(like imx)] .

We understood that this needs some custom clusters and attributes. What are the procedures needed and also could you give a brief explanation for the same as i am just a beginner in zigbee development?

Hi,

For sending raw data packets (such as text), please see Part 2 of dev.ti.com/.../

For implementation in the gateway application, I would recommend seeing the following:
- Section 6 of Z-Stack Linux Developer's Guide (protobuf interface between gateway application and servers)
- gateway_config.tlg (cluster definitions)

We are using the following versions for the testing of znp configuration in our custom board.

GW : Z-Stack_Linux_Gateway-1.0.1
ZNP : Znp fw from Z-Stack_Home_1.2.2
End device : sample light end device from Z-Stack_Home_1.2.2

I just gone through the link that you provided. But the "zstackapi.h" and "icall.h" is not present in this stack, we are getting errors for the same.

Part 2 was meant to show that an AF Data Request may be used to send a raw data packet, that a private cluster ID not defined by ZCL is needed, and other relevant parameters.

The MT commands which the ZNP handles are documented in "Z-Stack Monitor and Test API.pdf" (located in <Z-Stack Home>/Documents/API/Z-Stack Monitor and Test API.pdf). There, you can see that AF_DATA_REQUEST is included. This is the MT command that should be sent to the ZNP to send a raw data packet.

The Linux Gateway APIs currently offered are documented in "Documents/Z-Stack Linux Gateway - API document v1.1.pdf". These do not include APIs for AF.
In order to add such a feature, you will need to modify the gateway.proto (eg. a new command ID in gwCmdId_t, a corresponding defintion for a new message). You can follow an example of how protobuf works in Section 6 of "Z-Stack Linux Gateway Developer's Guide.pdf" (located in <Z-Stack Linux Gateway>/Documents).
Then you would need to add a case in gwHandlePbCb to handle the new command ID.

You can perhaps try using Z-Tool (located in <Z-Stack Home>/Tools/Z-Tool) to verify that the AF_DATA_REQUEST is sufficient for your needs.

We found that MT_APP_MSG can be used to send raw data in znp. But how we can incorporate MT_UARTInit and MT_APPMsg functions in ZNP configuration?...We are getting compilation errors (showing redefinition error) while adding MT_TASK under defined symbols.

If you don't need ZCL, I suggest you can use your own MT commnad to setup coordinator with your Host MCU and ZNP. Then, you can use AF_DataRequest to send raw data directly between coordinator and device.

We want to send raw data from imx->znp>enddevice.I think ZCL is not needed in this case,am i correct?...How we can include MT command utilities in znp ?

Yes, ZCL is not needed in your case and you can refer to Z-Stack ZNP Interface Specification.pdf and Z-Stack Monitor and Test API.pdf under your Z-Stack document folder to implement it.

1. Yes. You can use GenericApp for both coordinaotr and end device.

2. Yes.

3. It's not recommended to use broadcast since sleeping end device might miss broadcast message.

ZTool is a PC tool and I suppose you have to write your own MT command host on your iMX.

The documents are CC2530ZNP Interface Specification.pdf and Z-Stack Monitor and Test API.pdf which make no difference on Linux or not.

2.&3 Ztool communicate with CC2530 through UART so you need to connect CC2530 through serial-to-USB cable to PC for ZTool to recognize CC2530.

hi,

I have flashed the image generic app coordinator and generic app end device (from zstack mesh1.0.0) in the two custom cc2530 chips and compiled with extra flag MT_TASK,MT_APP_FUNC,MT_SYS_FUNC,MT_UTIL_FUNC and HAL_PA_LNA_CC2592(as we have range extender).

I can see that coordinator and device are sending data request and acknowledgement request.But, i can't see any "helloworld" is getting in end device.

Our aim is to bind the two devices using MT commands and send raw data.The serial port for coordinator /dev/ttymxc1 is up from imx6 side.I configured the port with default baud rate 38400 using stty linux command. We sent SYS_PING command 0xFE 0x00 0x21 0x01 0x20 as per the MT api doc from imx6 side by the following command.

echo -ne '\xFE\x00\x21\x01\x00\x20' > /dev/ttymxc0

we printed the "ch" from MT_UartProcessZToolData and getting the same as characters in coordinator image(printed the "ch" in terminal console using debugger) and not getting the SYS_PING response. we are not using znp...generic app in mesh 1.0.0 as coordinator and end device. Is this method is correct?..In which name the response will come under sniffer packets?

It’s basically the same. Make sure you use correct baudrate and test it with ZTool first.

We have connected serial to usb connector from the coordinator chip and "no devices connected" is showing in ztool. COM port is detected in device manager and configured ztool->settings>serial port as 38400,8N1,RTS/CTS handshake.We have compiled with the following flags.What will be issue?.

Which pins do you use as UART? I use default UART settings which is ZTOOL_P1 instead of "ZTOOL_P2 and ZAPP_P1" to test with ZTool and my CC2530DK, everthing works fine.

Try to change "#define MT_UART_DEFAULT_OVERFLOW TRUE" to "#define MT_UART_DEFAULT_OVERFLOW FALSE" to rebuild ZNP and set Handshake to none to test again.

We used serial to usb converter for the same. Three connections took from CC2530 chip and connected to converter as given below.

Rx(Port 0 pin 2) blue wire ---> Tx of converter

TX(Port 0 pin 3) white wire ---> Rx of converter

GND black wire ---> Gnd of converter

Finally the usb side of converter connected to windows pc

You want me to check the data is coming through serial port?...It is getting....We got the data that we sent from imx6 to this serial port.We are able to print the same on terminal console while using debugger.

After you send “0xFE 0x00 0x21 0x01 0x20“ from ttymxc0, do you see CC2530 ZNP responds “0xFE 0x02 0x61 0x01 0x11 0x00 0x73“?
