HI,

iam using the cc2650 launchpad and I want to attach some sensors via the provided pins. My question is with which operating voltage the pins are working? With 3,3V or 5V? --> Is was not apply to find the appropriate datasheet with the electrical characterics, where I can find this?

How big should be the supply voltage of this board?

LAUNCHXL-CC2650 provides both 3.3V and 5V. CC2650 runs on 3.3V. All of available LAUNCHXL-CC2650 documents can be downloaded from www.ti.com/.../LAUNCHXL-CC2650

Hi,
thanks a lot. That means i can attach directly sensors to this board which work with 3V3 or 5V without add any resistor?

Hi Luigi,

The CC2650 runs off 3.3 V and communicates on 3.3 V logic levels. You cannot connect a 5 V sensor directly to the CC2650 without some form of level shifting.

Hi now Iam a little bit confused. That means I need to use a levelshifter for 5V sensors? All the pins (Digital and Analg) are working with 3V3 logic? Where I can read this? Iam not able to find this?

Hi Luigi,

Even though there is 5 V available on the LaunchPad, the CC2650 runs off 3.3 V (the maximum supply voltage for CC2650 is 3.8 V).

Hi thanks a lot ok so that means 3v3 sensor directly and if Iam using 5V sensorsI need to connect a levelshifter before the Pin input.

A question is it possible to attach directly a LiPo Battery to CC2650 Launchpad? I saw there is a Battery Fuel tank available but its not compatible at all , because the I2C connection is provided in different Pins as on the Launchpad.

Where I can connect directly a LiPo battery (without fueltank) to the Board? Which LiPo do I need? -Maybe 3,7V or more?

Hi Luigi,

As I wrote earlier the maximum supply voltage for the CC2650 is 3.8 V. A fully charged LiPo battery will have around 4.2 V. In other words, you cannot connect this directly to the LaunchPad.

Can you post a link to the Battery Fuel BoosterPack? If the I2C pins are incorrectly placed it means that it is not following the LaunchPad specification, which is unfortunate. The good news though is that all digital functions on the CC2650 can be mapped freely to any IOs, so you can easily adapt.

Hi ok thanks so my idea is to combine the cc2650 launchpad with a sensorPack Plug-In module to read out some sensors and to supply the Board I want to use the BatteryPack. Look at the attached picture. I checked this with boosterChecker and the problem is that I²C is used from both Packs. How I can solve this problem? Is this combination possible?

Hi Luigi,

The I2C signals are supposed to be on the same pins. In other words, the BoosterPack is correct and will work as-is with the CC2650 LaunchPad.

Btw. If you have not gotten a LaunchPad yet, I would recommend you to consider the CC2640R2 LaunchPad which is supported by our latest BLE SDKs.

Hi Fredrik,
thanks a lot for the information but the BoosteChecker saids its not compatible because Pin34 is not available on Launchpad CC2650 . This pin is needed by the BatteryPack to charge Battery. Is there a possibility to redirect thsi pin to another one?

That pin is assigned to TMS on the CC26xx LaunchPads, but it is not actually connected (0 ohm resistor not mounted on the board). You can thus simply use a wire strap to move the Fuel Gauge signal to another available IO.

Ok for example I could use any other pin. I saw that some pins have double functionality for example as Analog and secondary as DIO. Does it means I can use this as Analog or Digital Pin like in the attached Picture? When yes How I can change the functionality of the Pin?
